The Tripoli Provost Unit was organized in 1966 by the then Potentate Milton L. Meister,
a judge in the Wisconsin Circuit Courts. Members of the Unit were active and retired law
enforcement officers, as well as fire department personnel and Shriners with similar interests.
The Unit assists with Mosque security, helps maintain order during Tripoli-sponsored
functions, and also is a uniformed marching unit. They are always at the service of the
Tripoli Potentate — ready to carry out his edicts, policies and wishes.
Members must participate in a majority of Unit-scheduled activities. Uniforms are furnished
when available after six months with the Unit.
Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Mosque Egyptian Room the fourth Wednesday of
each month except during the Summer. Special activities include a couple's bowling league,
a golf outing, a dinner dance, picnic, and always warm fellowship among the members.
